Like we were in fifth grade... Let Me Get a Do Over !!

What if you had a magical "do-over" button that you can press in those situations where the outcome lead to you wanting to kick yourself in the ass?..

Would you use it?..

I know there's been a point in time where all of us had an epiphany and said "damn ! I wish I hadn't acted that way!" Or, "wow I wish I would've taken that approach." Would you press that magical button that would rewind the hands of time and give you a second chance to do whatever it was,"the right way"?

The other night I sat and thought about it to myself. I said, "shit ! , I should've acted differenly, I wish I had a magical do over button."

But in retrospect the experience did teach me a lot about myself. It turned on a light in my brain in the section that had been pretty dark, and made me think that if something or some situation didn't go as planned maybe it wasn't meant to be.

If it wasn't meant to be, and if I did have a magical do over button to press and pressed it, the outcome probably would not change.

The older I get the less control I seem to have over the inevitable. I can't literally force a doctor to use my products, I can't literally force a girl to like me a certain way.

I'm learning more and more to just be who I am and let things fall into place.

That's a hard thing to do for many of us because it leaves you vulnerable. It takes control out of your hands and puts it in this intangible belief in "whatever happens....happens", and happens for "a reason"...

I used to think that idea fuckin sucked, but I am beggining to see that maybe everything does happen for a reason.

Maybe I'm suppossed to work harder for that sale, Maybe that girl I want to be feeling me isn't really feeling me right now so I could be alone and reflect on life with no distractions...

Blackonomics part 1

Here's what's real and what's relevant, and in the wake of all this economic crisis talk, I thought it was important to take a step back and put some things into perspective.. The economy is really shitty right now and I think all of us as minorities/ lower income individuals.... should evaluate our money situation and think about the future. Yes! That's right the future! Are you saving money RIGHT NOW?...

Do you have an investment vehicle in place that can help the money you have sitting there actually grow, and not just accumulate dust?..

Were you aware that you can lend your money to banks for a small fee or percentage rate? I always bring up this subject to people I know because we all have to save up for a rainy day or those days where we decide we aren't going to work anymore. At the beginning of the year what I usually do is write down all my major outstanding debt(college loans, car, motorcycle....etc..), then I map out a plan to decrease that debt by a certain amount in a certain period of time. I also write down my monthly bills and expenses. Then, with whatever I have left I decide how much to put into savings versus frivolous spending money.

I think we all need to do a better job of not spending money we don't have. This epidemic of credit tries to infect us all.. Now I'm not saying don't ever buy anything on credit, I'm just saying it should be a carefully calculated action. Taking into account how much you'll really end up paying when you actually pay off your purchase, and the time period you plan on paying it off in.. Do you have a 401k, life insurance plan, or an IRA in place?

If you do.... Do you track its progress?... How much are you contributing to it?.. Did you know that you can decrease your tax liability by the actual amount you contribute to your IRA and 401K?... There are max contributions you can make, but it is definitely worth it so you can keep more of your money....

A lot of people don't see how much of an impact this has because it's money they won't see until they get to retirement age.. Hey, in my eyes a dollar now is definitely worth a dollar later.. Lets evaluate where we stand financially before it’s too late!

Is Light Skin the Right Skin?

Recently I was at a small get together at a friend of a friend’s house (really small, 7 women, 3 fellas) when the topic of interracial dating came up. Not just interracial dating but specifically men who like to date white women, and women with lighter skin complexion and “good” hair (I put “good” in quotations because that can be interpreted differently from person to person). Coincidentally all of the women there were dark skinned and honestly I can say 4 of them were really attractive to me. I asked “ladies! If you happen to see a brother walking down the street with a white woman, how would you react?”

Aaaww man! Yall should have seen the scornful eyes! One of them responded “I would want to throw up!”. Another said “that would be a damned shame”… I asked “a damned shame. Really?”...

She responded “ yea, I would feel like we lost another brother to the other side, besides Black guys only date white women because its easier to do and they don’t have to deal with our attitudes!”.. So I said in an antagonizing voice “well maybe yall should tone the attitudes down a little!”.. Of course I was just playing devils advocate and it didn’t end there.

To make a long story short, and minus the alcohol…The overall theme was that lighter skinned women along with white women usually get more attention from men. Me personally I am a fan of women and if your beautiful and sexy (inside and out, oh yea and between the heights of 5’2 – 5’10, and nice and curvy) you’d probably catch my eye. Just like the song said “I like em brown, black, Puerto Rican, or Asian”…

So what do you guys think? Is light skin the right skin? Do you feel like lighter skinned women/ white women get more attention then darker women?

Meet Jonas the family's Pit.

Here's my pup... Jonas, He's a year and 5 months..rednose pitbull, I got him when he was 8 weeks old.

I say he's the family's Pit because my mom calls him her grandson and my aunts call him their nephew, and my younger cousins call him their cousin! lol.. yea, we're weird.. but they all love him and he's fam so that's a good thing..

He's a crazy little guy, and although people are usually afraid of him cuz of his looks, he would never intentionally hurt anyone. I've never even heard him bark or growl in an aggressive way towards strangers..

He has a whole lot of energy so I have to make sure he get's a lot of excercise. And he's a chewing machine!
